UK stablecoin infrastructure company Noah has added $16m to the $22m it announced last year, closing its seed round at $38m. The valuation was not disclosed, and the money is earmarked for a US push that includes a New York office.

Noah has finished raising its seed round. The company said on Wednesday that its seed financing had closed at $38m, after a second tranche of $16m.

Founded in 2020 by former Visa and Adyen executives, Noah builds payment infrastructure that links fiat currencies with stablecoins. Businesses plug into it through an API to add stablecoin payments to their own products.

    How the round was built

The round came together in two stages. Noah disclosed $22m of seed funding last year, with LocalGlobe and Felix Capital among the investors.

That first tranche also drew angel cheques from Joe Lonsdale, a co-founder of Palantir, and David Helgason, a co-founder of gaming software company Unity Technologies.

The new $16m comes from Endeit Capital and FJ Labs, alongside LocalGlobe and Felix Capital, which have both invested again. Other investors also took part but were not named.

Noah did not identify a lead for the extension. Terms were not disclosed, including the post-money valuation and whether the second tranche was priced on the same basis as the first.

    The cap-table picture

Splitting it over two announcements means the original backers have been joined on the register by at least two new institutional names.

The participation of LocalGlobe and Felix Capital in both stages shows existing shareholders adding to their positions rather than leaving the top-up to newcomers. How much of the company the combined round represents has not been made public.

    Scale so far

Noah says its network is live in more than 150 markets and supports over 60 currencies.

Chief executive and co-founder Shah Ramezani said the company was building infrastructure to make one-click international transactions possible everywhere, with compliance at both the point where funds originate and where they arrive. He compared the ambition to the effect neobanks have had on domestic banking, applied to cross-border money transfer.

    Use of funds

The capital will fund expansion in the United States, where Noah plans to open an office in New York. The remainder is going into scaling the underlying infrastructure.

The raise lands in a busy week for the sector. Spiko, the Paris-based cash-yield platform, announced a $90m Series B a day earlier, a sign that investors are still writing large cheques for companies moving money on newer rails.

For Noah, the next disclosure to watch is a priced Series A. With $38m raised at seed and a US build-out under way, that round would set the first public marker of what the business is worth.
