London-based Doris Labs has raised $600,000 in pre-seed funding led by Fuel Ventures, with Manchester Angels and a group of B2B software angels participating. The valuation was not disclosed; early customers report 6 hours of admin saved per rep each week and a 72% rise in deal velocity.

Doris Labs, a London startup building data infrastructure for go-to-market teams, has closed a $600,000 pre-seed round.

Fuel Ventures led the investment. Manchester Angels took part alongside a number of individual angels drawn from the B2B software industry, who were not named.

Terms were not disclosed, including the post-money valuation, the stake sold and whether the round was structured as priced equity or a convertible instrument.

    The company

Doris was founded by Hayden Munt, its chief executive, and Frazer Kearl, its chief technology officer. Munt previously worked at Vertice and Kearl at Patsnap.

The pair are targeting a problem they say they met in those roles. Sales data typically sits across eight or more tools, including the CRM, call recorders and email, in a form that AI models struggle to interpret.

A CRM holds basics such as deal stage and amount. What a buyer said on a second call, or why similar deals closed, stays in recordings, email threads, documents and the memory of individual reps, and leaves the business when they do.

    The product

Doris describes its product as a semantic layer that sits beneath the whole sales stack rather than on top of the CRM. It converts unstructured material from calls, emails and documents into a typed structure, or ontology, that both people and software agents can query.

On that base the company is launching Sidekicks, persistent agents assigned to individual deals, each with its own memory and routines. Kearl said any MCP-compatible agent can also read the underlying data.

Munt said the answer to most deals already exists somewhere inside a company, but nobody knows where to find it.

    Early numbers

Doris says its first deployments have saved reps 6 hours of administrative work a week and lifted deal velocity by 72%.

Its named customer is Patently, an AI patent platform used by more than 1,000 teams in 40 countries. Comparing deals created before and after adoption, Patently reported a 165% increase in deals closing within the forecast timeline and a 64% rise in its deal qualification score.

The figures are company-reported and the size of the samples behind them was not given.

    The investors

Fuel Ventures has invested more than £280m in over 230 UK companies since it was set up in 2013. Its portfolio has included Capdesk, bought by Carta for $88m, and ContentCal, bought by Adobe for £110m.

The deal follows the British Business Bank's £10m commitment to Fuel Ventures through its Regional Angels Programme, reported earlier this week.

Mark Pearson, Fuel's founder and managing partner, said whoever owns the layer holding the context for sales agents will matter a great deal. David Levine, principal at Manchester Angels, said each angel in the group could identify a point at their own company where the product would have helped.

Doris did not give a breakdown of how the $600,000 will be spent or a timetable for a seed round.
