Chartered insurance broker Konsileo has closed a £5m equity round led by existing shareholder Committed Capital together with ACF Investors. The company employs more than 220 people and places over £85m of premiums a year; the valuation was not disclosed.
Konsileo, the technology-led commercial insurance broker, has raised £5m of new equity from investors already on its shareholder register.
The round was led by Committed Capital, a long-term backer, together with ACF Investors. No new outside lead was named, and the company did not disclose the valuation or the stake sold.
Funding history
This is the third financing Konsileo has made public. It raised £2.7m in April 2018, the year after it was founded, and £8m in a mix of debt and equity in November 2024.
The latest round is equity only, and takes the total disclosed across the three to £15.7m, a figure that includes the debt portion of the 2024 deal.
An insider-led round of this kind typically signals that existing shareholders are prepared to keep funding growth without waiting for an external investor to set the price. It also means the dilution falls on a register that is largely unchanged.
The business
Konsileo was set up in 2017 by John Warburton and Peter Henderson. Warburton, the chief executive, previously held senior roles at Aviva, Accenture and Allianz, while Henderson comes from a technology background.
The firm now has more than 220 staff and arranges more than £85m in annual insurance premiums for UK businesses. Its clients span construction, healthcare, technology and professional services.
Its model rests on a broking platform built in-house, which automates administration and embeds compliance checks so that brokers spend more time advising clients. It also operates Riskube, an online platform through which clients can view and manage their policies.
Konsileo runs without a conventional management hierarchy, organising its brokers into self-managed teams under what it describes as a "Teal" structure.
Organic rather than acquired
Konsileo has avoided the growth-by-acquisition approach, instead recruiting brokers individually and training them through its own academy.
Steven Harris, chief executive of Committed Capital, said the company had become one of the fastest-growing independent brokers in the country and had done so organically rather than through acquisition. He pointed to the proprietary platform and the firm's culture as the two elements that are hard for rivals to copy.
Use of funds
The £5m will go towards hiring experienced broking professionals, further development of the platform, including the integration of AI tools, and sustaining the firm's organic growth.
Warburton said the company's expansion reflected what happens when brokers are given autonomy and the right equipment and are supported rather than managed.
Konsileo has not set out a timetable for a further raise. With premiums above £85m, its next test is whether broker-by-broker hiring can keep pace with rivals that grow by acquisition.
