Tallia raises a €4m seed co-led by Outward VC and the ICAEW to bring AI research tools to tax advisers

London-based Tallia, which was known as Revax until recently, has raised a €4m ($4.5m) seed round co-led by Outward VC and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). The company builds AI research and drafting software for tax and accountancy firms.

Tallia was founded in 2025 by school friends Jack Mander, who has a background in professional tax advisory, and Alexander Bartlam, who comes from engineering. The company builds software that drafts tax research and advice, with every answer cited back to legislation, regulatory guidance and case law.

Its pitch is aimed at a profession where general-purpose chatbots are a liability: in tax advice, every conclusion has to be traceable to an authority.

    The round

Outward VC, the London seed investor, co-led the round with the ICAEW. The ICAEW is one of the UK's largest accountancy bodies, so its role gives Tallia a professional standards body on its cap table as well as an investor.

Portfolio Ventures and Expedite Capital also invested, along with angel investors including Paul Forster and Angus Miln.

The company did not disclose its valuation, the size of each investor's cheque or how much equity it sold.

    Product and traction

Tallia's platform uses a custom retrieval system to connect AI-generated answers to the underlying tax sources, so advisers can check them before the work goes to clients. It can also draw on a firm's own documents, templates and past work, so drafts follow that firm's house style and positions.

Structured review workflows let senior staff see the reasoning and evidence behind each draft. The product works inside Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

The company says it produces a fully cited first draft in an average of 30 seconds, and that teams using it save an average of five hours per fee earner each week.

    A crowded niche

The raise adds to a run of European deals in AI for tax and accounting this year. Germany's mika has raised €6m, Italy's A-Cube €4m and Belgium's Dytto €1.5m, while UK-based Zalos raised €3.1m for finance automation. EU-Startups estimates that disclosed funding across the segment has reached about €35.6m in 2026, including Tallia.

    What's next

Tallia plans to use the money to win more tax and accountancy firms as customers. With the ICAEW as an investor, it has a route into the institute's membership, a distribution advantage few seed-stage competitors can match.

The challenge will be turning time savings per fee earner into enterprise contracts large enough to support a Series A. Mid-sized and larger firms are already testing broader legal and professional services AI platforms.
